Basically a virtual scrapbook of everything I like from the net and random ideas following through my brain.
DAY 16: The nerdiest thing you do on a regular basis
USE ONLINE MESSAGE BOARDS
The online message board community in itself is nerdy as hell but I belong to multiple ones. Now the people there are top notch, most of my friends were gathered from that resource because you automatically have like interests but I will admit it’s just downright nerdy.
I’ve had arguments about comic book continuities, how Spider-Man’s powers work, the basics of Tony Stark’s armor progressions, hidden meanings in episodes of popular television shows, the coloring exactness of an action figure and even knock down drag outs about whether or not The Avengers achieved the caliber of deeper meaning that the Nolan batman films have or if the Nolan films have any deeper meaning at all.
It’s a lot of fun, and the conversations are so unique that I couldn’t imagine having some of them in real life but there is no denying that it’s geekdom in its purist form and something that not only takes a lot to get into but to hang with especially given the amount of trolling and anti-newbie attitudes that many of them have.
DAY 11: The last completely useless thing you bought.
DALEK KEYCHAIN
The term useless always bothered me. When something is useless to me it means you aren’t allowing your imagination to think of a use for it. So I’m going off of the last thing I bought that wasn’t used in any way like it was supposed to be used. I bought my original Dalek keychain to go onto my keys but as I carried it around in my pocket, I realized that the eye, the gun, and other small accents were getting rubbed and getting broken from my daily usage. I transferred it to my work lanyard to have some sort use for it and carried around until the end of the school year when it was taken off battered and broken (battle damaged in my opinion)
The thing is it could have stayed on or thrown away but as I had a lot of students and other teachers saying how awesome it was to carry around on my keys, I bought a replacement. So I bought a keychain to wear on my keys in August simply to replace the one that I had the year before. It’s my version of a hood ornament I guess.
DAY 13: A photo of the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery
DREAM POOL
Now I don’t mean a run of the mill pool, I mean my dream pool, with artificial rock waterfall, tropical plants, sunroom enclosure so I can regulate temperatures and full heating capabilities so I can swim full year round. Swimming has to be one of my favorite things to do but I don’t have direct access to a pool at the drop of a hat, I’d love to be able to step into my backyard and see this oasis waiting for me whether it’s August or February, ready to use. It’s a big idea so I might have to buy a new backyard to put it in but I just won the lottery so that shouldn’t be a big deal either right?
