Basically a virtual scrapbook of everything I like from the net and random ideas following through my brain.
DAY 10: One thing you’d like to do before you die
GET A BOOK PUBLISHED
I love to write, my mind is constantly working overdrive to the point where often I drift off into my own mind’s eye and just let the stories wonder. It’s weird, I get daydreams or remember fragments of dreams and use them to start stories here and there. Moving my files to my new computer I saw that I have 70 stories in various states of completion and odds are that at least one of them will get published.
I don’t even care if it makes me a ton of money or rich and famous like Stephen King or good ol’ J.K. I just want it to make enough to where I can do it for a living and just let my imagination run wild.
DAY 06: A photo of your favorite book
EAST OF EDEN
This was a toss up between this book and Catcher in the Rye but I’ve read East of Eden more times than any other book. I’ll never forget a high school English teacher named Mrs. Sparling who noticed that I was “phoning” in my book reports (mainly because they were all books with films and/or Sparks Notes) and challenged me to read this. She said I would find myself in the Trasks. I read it begrudgingly at first but found myself really loving the Steinbeck descriptions (even though most people hate it) and when I finished I remember asking her which one I was supposed to relate to Adam, Caleb or Aron and she smiled in this strange smile that she used to give and said if I didn’t know I should read it again. I must have read this book a dozen times and still have no clue what she was supposed to have find in the Trask family. I’ve never even seen the James Dean film, mainly because someone told me so much was cut out of it and that the role of Caleb was changed so much to suit James Dean so I never bothered to avoid disappointment. I’ve seen so many of my favorite book adaptations to film go completely wrong and horrible (Chocolate War anyone?) that I don’t think I could bear seeing this one butchered. Apparently Lindsay Lohan wants to remake the Dean film so I probably won’t go see that as well.
